Microsoft has announced they will be retiring the Stream (Classic) portal on February 15, 2024. CSIT will be migrating all video content from Stream (Classic) to SharePoint or OneDrive during the summer of 2023 in hopes of causing as little interruption as possible. If you have information in Stream (Classic) you might be contacted about where data needs to be migrated to depending on the type of container the videos are in.
Container Types and Migration Locations
User Containers
Containers hosting private videos uploaded to Stream. By default, user containers are mapped to the owner's OneDrive. If a user is no longer with the university we can migrate the videos to a SharePoint or Teams site.
Microsoft 365 Group Containers
Containers tied to Microsoft 365 groups, most commonly created as part of a Teams site. These containers are mapped to the primary document library on the Teams site associated with the Microsoft 365 group.
Stream Group Containers
Containers created within Stream to host videos and provide access controls to those videos. These containers will need to be manually mapped, likely to a OneDrive, private SharePoint site, or Teams site.
Company-wide Channel Containers
Containers hosting videos available to anyone within the NWU Microsoft 365 tenant. These containers will need to be manually mapped, likely being moved to Public SharePoint sites. Many of these videos are part of the library archive and will be migrated to a new public SharePoint site curated by the Library staff.
